Internationally more research attention and investment takes place in cancer – related illnesses than any other. The rate of change and development is so rapid that many cancer treatments are now delivered in the context of clinical trials where novel agents are made available at early stages of development to cancer patients. Our Cancer services (Oncology and Haematology) are fully engaged in this process (Limerick Cancer Trial Group) and in conjunction with the Limerick Digital Cancer Research Centre (LDCRC) at University of Limerick has an exciting and promising research programme and is expected to deliver for patients locally and make a contribution to cancer care internationally.
